Composite floor constructions
At Protecta, we have developed a solution for firestopping single and multiple service penetrations which penetrate trapezoidal steel decking and there is a limited floor depth.
Trapezoidal steel decks create a number of firestopping problems. Depending on where a hole is cut within the trapezoidal profile, there will be a variable depth of concrete; firestop approvals specify minimum concrete floor depths and these are often not met as the hole will pass through the top of the profile. In addition to this, the absence of a flat soffit to install service penetration firestop seals, such as intumescent collars and linear joint seals, leads to builders coming up with untested solutions to overcome this difficult problem.
